2024 Cadillac Lyriq Will Not Receive Digital Key Feature (Updated)

Update: turns out that Digital Key will be available after all for the 2024 Lyriq, but only for Apple devices at launch. See details here.

The 2024 Cadillac Lyriq will not get the Digital Key feature that was initially planned for the electric luxury crossover, Cadillac Society has learned.

Intended to allow entry and operation of the Lyriq using a smartphone instead of the vehicle’s key fob, the Digital Key feature (production code BOY) was originally intended to be included as part of the optional Driver Assist Package (production code Y66) offered on the new base Tech trim, and was to be included as standard on Luxury and Sport trims.

Digital Key was also intended to be a standard feature on the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq, including for the Debut Edition models. It was originally called KeyPass and would have offered the same functionality as Digital Key, but was ultimately nixed from the Lyriq. At this time, it’s not clear if Digital Key will ever make its way to the Cadillac Lyriq, or why the feature has yet to be implemented.

While Digital Key will not be available on the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq, it will offer other state of the art technology, such as 5G network connectivity, enabling faster download speeds for music, as well as faster connectivity for navigation, traffic, and point of interest info, along with faster in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot functionality. Beyond tech, the 2024 Lyriq expands the electric crossover’s options for interior colorways and materials, such as the new Nappa Leather Seating Package, while also revamping the trim level structure to offer three trim levels, thereby revising Cadillac’s trim level structure.

Riding on the BEV3 platform, the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq is offered in either rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive, with the former harnessing a single Ultium Drive motor on the rear axle, and the latter adding a second motor on the front axle. RWD models boast 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque while the AWD setup features 500 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. Both configurations offer just over 300 miles of driving range on a single charge.
