As recently reported by Cadillac Society, the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq introduces a brand-new base trim level for the luxury electric crossover’s lineup known as Tech. Interestingly, this new Tech trim deviates from the luxury marque’s established trim level structure, indicating that Cadillac is overhauling its trim level hierarchy with the 2024 Lyriq.
On the current CT and XT models, as well as the Escalade, Cadillac organizes its trim levels via a Y-shaped structure, with the Luxury trim forming the base of the Y, followed by Premium Luxury and Sport trims that represent the better-equipped “arms” of the Y. The Sport trim flows int V-Series and V-Series Blackwing models.
The 2024 Cadillac Lyriq Tech appears to represent a general shift in this strategy. While it retains the familiar Y-shaped pattern, Tech represents the base of the Y, which splits into Luxury and Sport trims in ascending order. This new strategy is a bit more comprehensive than the luxury marque’s previous convention, as it eliminates potential confusion between Luxury and Premium Luxury trims. Additionally, the placement of Sport above Luxury could have also caused some confusion, and this new structure seemingly resolves that.
The new Y trim level structure for the 2024 Lyriq also suggests that the luxury marque eliminated its Platinum packages and trim levels, replacing them with three tiers denoted by the numbers 1, 2 and 3. In other words, the Sport 3 trim is better equipped than the Sport 1 trim, and the Luxury 3 trim is better equipped than Luxury 1. Though not yet officially confirmed by Cadillac, it’s highly likely that this revised trim level structure will make its way across more models in the Cadillac portfolio in the future. Also not confirmed but expected by the staff here at Cadillac Society is that the Sport branch will eventually birth V-Series variants.
Back to the 2024 Lyriq’s trims: as Cadillac Society previously reported, the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq Tech is tagged with the 1SA equipment group. Meanwhile, the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq Luxury and Sport trims have three equipment groups (relevant equipment groups listed in parentheses):

As a reminder, the Lyriq rides on the luxury marque’s BEV3 platform, and is assembled at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee for all markets except for China. It is offered with two powertrains. The base single-motor setup features one Ultium motor mounted on the rear axle, lending 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque for an estimated 312 miles of driving range. The second is a dual-motor Performance AWD setup that adds a motor to the front axle, resulting in over 500 total system horsepower. Pricing starts at $58,590 for the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq Tech RWD.
