2022 Cadillac XT5, XT6 Recalled For Improper Tire Certification Label

2022 Cadillac XT5, XT6 Recalled For Improper Tire Certification Label

Cadillac’s parent company, General Motors, has issued a recall for certain units of the 2023 Cadillac XT5 and XT6 luxury crossovers in response to an issue with noncompliant tire certification labels.

The problem: affected vehicles may not have a tire certification label that is legible. This label is located on the vehicle’s driver side B-pillar, and contains correct tire size information, critical for compliance with S4.3.3 of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 110, which regards “Tire selection and rims and motor home / recreation vehicle trailer load carrying capacity information for motor vehicles with a GVWR of 4,536 kilograms (10,000 pounds) or less.”

The hazards: if the label is not legible, incorrect tire size could be used on affected examples of the 2023 Cadillac XT5 and XT6. This could increase the risk of a crash.

The fix: dealership technicians will replace the vehicle tire certification label with a label that includes the correct tire sizing in clearly legible print. Technicians are instructed to remove the old label before placing the new one, and should not place the new label over the existing one.

Affected vehicles:

  • 2023 Cadillac XT5
  • 2023 Cadillac XT6

Number of affected vehicles: neither Cadillac nor GM have not indicated how many units of the 2023 Cadillac XT5 and 2023 Cadillac XT6 may be affected by this condition.
