The launch of the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq draws ever closer. Back in January, the first pre-production model rolled off the assembly line at the Cadillac Spring Hill plant, signaling that regular production would soon follow. And now, Cadillac Society has learned when to expect assembly of the luxury electric crossover to begin.
According to our sources, the start of regular production of the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is scheduled for March 21st, 2022. Units of the battery electric crossover will be assembled at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee. Just over 16 months ago, Cadillac invested a $2 billion in the facility to prepare it to produce the electric vehicle, and things are progressing as planned.
Recently, Cadillac’s parent company, General Motors, announced plans to considerably increase its electric vehicle production to accommodate unprecedented demand. Initially, Cadillac planned to produce 3,200 units of the all-new crossover by the end of 2022. Now, the luxury marque plans to produce 25,000 individual units of the Lyriq by the end of the year.
Cadillac will first produce the Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition. From there, the second round of orders will open. That represents a change from Cadillac’s original plans, which involved a reservation, much like the system in place for Debut Editions models. But due to the sheer amount of interest in the Lyriq, the marque elected to forgo this process in order to immediately open order books.
As a reminder, the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition harnesses a 100.4 kWh lithium-ion Ultium battery pack and a single Ultium Drive motor mounted on the rear axle. The electric driveline is rated at 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque, and Cadillac estimates the Lyriq will have 300 miles of range from a full charge. The Debut Edition is only offered with rear-wheel-drive, but we expect all-wheel drive, along with a high-performance variant, to be made available in the near future.

One of four new colors for the 2025 model year.
And it now represents the best value in its segment.
