Pre-Production Cadillac Lyriq Spied On Public Roads: Video

A few months ago, Cadillac Society exclusively reported on another pre-production Lyriq prototype undergoing testing on public roads. Then, back in November, we spied a production-ready version making the rounds in the real world.  Now, a new video shows a pre-production version of the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq undergoing testing on public roads, lending us another glimpse of how Cadillac’s new electric vehicle will look when it joins the flow of everyday traffic.

Spotted not far from the GM Technical Center complex in Warren, Michigan, the prototype appears close to being production-ready, and lacks any camouflage used to conceal the finer details of prototypes. It also sports production alloy wheels along with LED headlights and taillights as well as production front and rear fasciae. Glaringly obvious is the red-painted liftgate with an empty recess clearly meant to house the Caddy emblem, which hints that this vehicle is not fully integrated just yet.

In the video, the Cadillac Lyriq prototype rolls past several other similarly-sized crossovers, including the Honda CR-V and Chevy Equinox. It appears to have a healthy road presence, with very attractive proportions and an aggressive stance.

Considering the battery-electric luxury crossover has officially entered the final development stage, it makes sense that Cadillac would put through as much over-the-road testing as possible to ensure that it’s ready for its rapidly-approaching launch.

The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq rides on the all-new BEV3 platform and is equipped with rear wheel drive and a 100.4 kWh lithium-ion Ultium battery pack and a single Ultium Drive motor mounted on the rear axle. As of this writing, that’s the only powertrain configuration available, but more options, including all-wheel-drive and more power, are expected in the future.

Check out the video just below.
