The 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing have officially started to arrive at dealer lots, Cadillac has announced.
Due to the global ongoing microchip shortage, production of the CT4 and CT5 at the Lansing Grand River plant has been spotty since operations were idled in mid-May, but assembly resumed on a limited basis in early July to ensure the timely rollout of the Blackwing models. Meanwhile, assembly of the regular, 2021 model year CT4 and CT5 resumed on August 9th, while production of the regular, 2022 model CT4 and CT5 is scheduled to begin in October.
The first units of the CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing bearing the coveted VIN 001 were auctioned off earlier this year at Barrett-Jackson, going for $165,000 and $265,000 respectively. By comparison, pricing for a “regular” 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing begins at $84,990, and that of the CT5-V Blackwing starts at $59,990.
The 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing harnesses the twin-turbocharged 3.6L V6 (production code LF4), rated at 472 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. The 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing boasts the supercharged 6.2L V8 (production code LT4), rated at a dizzying 668 horsepower and 669 pound-feet of torque, making it the most powerful Cadillac to ever be produced. The engines in both super sedans come standard with the 6-speed manual transmission or an optional 10-speed automatic. Both transmissions deliver power exclusively to the rear wheels.
