2021 Cadillac XT6 Premium Luxury Gains Tech Updates In China

Cadillac has updated the 2021 Cadillac XT6 range in China. Specifically, the three-row luxury crossover’s Premium Luxury trim level receives a comprehensive update consisting of next-generation technologies and new comfort features. Interestingly, these updates follow a previously-announced set of enhancements for the 2021 Cadillac XT6.

In addition to adding the new 48V mild-hybrid powertrain recently introduced in China, the updated 2021 Cadillac XT6 Premium Luxury adds the latest version of the Cadillac User Experience infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay, a new high-definition camera for the Rear Camera Mirror System plus a Bose Performance high-fidelity Audio System as standard.

With the 2021 Cadillac XT6 refresh, the luxury marque is looking to continue being highly competitive in the Chinese market, where the XT6 has achieved healthy levels of popularity thanks to its distinctive design and spacious interior, enabling it to transport the country’s growing families. In fact, since launching in China in 2019, the Cadillac XT6 has received a healthy amount of accolades, consistently occupying the top three sales spots in its segment in the country.

Aesthetically, the 2021 Cadillac XT6 Premium Luxury, as well as all other XT6 trims, remain exactly the same in their second model year on sale. The 2021 Cadillac XT6 range in China is comprised of the following models: Fashion Edition (as the base), followed by Luxury, Sport, and Premium Luxury. The Luxury/Premium Luxury feature chrome exterior elements while the Sport model is differentiated by black exterior elements.

On a mechanical level, the entire 2021 Cadillac XT6 in Chinese comes standard with Caddy’s ubiquitous turbocharged 2.0L engine (production code LSY) and nine-speed automatic transmission. The turbo four-pot is mated to a Mild-Hybrid system consisting of an electric motor and a 48V battery. Total system power is rated at a maximum of 250 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.

The updated 2021 Cadillac XT6 Premium Luxury is now on sale across the Cadillac dealer network in China with a starting price of 469,700 CNY (approximately $72,999 USD, at current exchange rates) – the same price for which the luxury crossover has been selling before the updates described here.

We should also note that, as of this writing, it’s currently unclear whether these updates will make their way to the U.S.-market XT6.
