The 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is here, offered as the most track-capable four-door the luxury marque has ever produced. Among the CT5-V Blackwing’s long list of performance upgrades is an optional carbon-ceramic brake package from Brembo, adding even more stopping power to the sedan’s already formidable arsenal.
The 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing’s optional carbon-ceramic brake package includes six-pot monobloc aluminum calipers with radiated pistons up front, and four-pot aluminum calipers in the rear, as well as electric pad wear sensors at all four corners. The front rotors measure in at 15.7 inches while weighing just 16.5 pounds, and the rear discs are 14.6 inches in diameter while tipping the scales as 12.8 pounds.
Cast Iron | Carbon Ceramic | |
---|---|---|
Front disc size (in.) | 15.7 x 1.4 | 15.7 x 1.5 |
Front disc weight (lbs.) | 36.6 | 16.5 |
Front brake pad surface (sq. in.) | 22.0 | 22.0 |
Rear disc size (in.) | 14.7 x 1.1 | 14.6 x 1.3 |
Rear disc weight (lbs.) | 24.5 | 12.8 |
Rear brake pad surface (sq. in.) | 6.6 | 11.6 |
Combined, the new carbon-ceramic brake package cuts nearly 64 pounds over the CT5-V BW’s standard cast-iron brakes, significantly reducing unsprung weight and providing sharper handling.
Available caliper colors for the carbon-ceramic brake system include Tech Bronze, Edge Red, and Royal Blue. Pricing is set at $9,000.
The standard brake system on the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is also supplied by Brembo and features cast-iron, 15.6-inch front discs and cast-iron 14.72-inch rear discs, weighing 36.6 pounds and 24.5 pounds, respectively. Grabbing the discs are six-pot calipers in front and four-pot calipers in the rear.
“We are excited to provide Cadillac with their first-ever carbon-ceramic brake package,” said Brembo North America president and CEO, Dan Sandberg. “This will be our fourth generation of brake systems stopping the Cadillac V-Series sedans, and it is certainly a highlight of our 15-year history with Cadillac.”
In addition to providing the braking system for the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, Brembo also supplies the brakes for the Cadillac DPi-V.R racing machine competing in the IMSA WeatherTech Championship.
As a reminder, the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is powered by the supercharged 6.2L V8 (production code LT4), which doles out a heady 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque.
