A new service update was recently released that addresses an issue related to the hands-free liftgate feature in the Cadillac XT6. According to the service update, the hands-free liftgate kick sensors may be rendered inoperative if they become wet.
The new service update includes both vehicles in dealer inventory and customer vehicles that return to the dealership for any reason. To fix the issue, dealers are instructed to reprogram the Cadillac XT6 liftgate control module.
The hands-free liftgate feature is design to allow easy access to the rear cargo space by “kicking” under the bumper, which is useful when carrying objects.
The XT6 was first introduced for the 2020 model year, and is offered as a seven-seater luxury crossover. The latest 2021 Cadillac XT6 is the second model year of the first-generation vehicle, and offers a few changes and upgrades over the initial 2020 model year, such as the addition of a Luxury trim level, the deletion of four exterior colors, the addition of two up-charge exterior color options, and the addition of a new 20-inch wheel option. Inside the cabin, the latest 2021 Cadillac XT6 also features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. Safety features include Front Pedestrian braking, Forward Collision Alert, and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning.
In terms of cargo room, the Cadillac XT6 offers up to 78.7 cubic-feet of room behind the first row.
Providing motivation is the turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine (production code LSY), which is exclusive to the Luxury trim level. Higher in the line, the XT6 is equipped with the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 gas engine (production code LGX). Both engines connect to a nine-speed automatic transmission.
