Cadillac XT4, XT6 Recalled Over Transmission Accumulator Issue

Cadillac’s parent company, General Motors, has issued a safety recall on the XT4 and XT6 crossover utility vehicles due to a potential issue regarding the start-stop transmission accumulator.

The problem: affected vehicles may have missing bolts on the transmission accumulator end cap.

The hazards: missing bolts on the transmission accumulator end cap could result in an oil leak, perhaps leading to increased risk of fire or a crash.

The fix: dealers will inspect the start-stop transmission accumulator of any affected customer vehicles and replace it if any bolts are missing. Dealers have also been ordered to hold any units of the vehicles they may have in their inventory, and not deliver them, use them for demonstration purposes or trade them to other dealers until the repair has been performed. The repairs will be made free of charge to owners.

Affected vehicles: the following vehicles equipped with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

  • 2019 Cadillac XT4
  • 2020 Cadillac XT4
  • 2020 Cadillac XT6

Affected component: transmission.

Next step: Cadillac will notify owners of affected vehicles and instruct them to make an appointment with their dealer. If owners are unsure whether or not their vehicle is affected by this recall, they can visit my.gm.com/recalls and type in their VIN to see any open recalls or other actions that may be active on their vehicle.

The Cadillac XT4 went on sale in 2018 as a 2019 model year vehicle and was joined a year later by the XT6. They are the smallest and largest of Cadillac’s XT range, respectively, with the XT5 slotting between them. The XT4 is at present available only with a turbocharged 2.0L I4 gasoline engine (production code LSY) rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This same engine was added to Luxury models in the XT6 range for the 2021 model year as an alternative to the existing naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 (production code LGX), rated at 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque.

  1. Bonjour ,
Es ce que ce problème sur les transmissions 9 vitesses ont été corrigé ?
Électrovanne 1 de commande de boîte de vitesses coincée en position de marche.

  2. My 2021 Cadillac XT4 has 2700 miles. It had 128 on it when purchased.
Since the beginning the transmission jumps at low speeds. I have had it to Sullivan Cadillac in Ocala twice. The first time I was told it could not figure out what gear it wanted to be in. The second time the service manager drove the car and said it was because it was a nine speed transmission. I am not sure what to believe.
