When Cadillac announced the updated 2019 CT6 in April, it only showed off the new CT6 V-Sport as well as the CT6 Platinum. Today, we managed to catch up to a pre-production unit of the 2019 CT6 in the new Sport trim level while it was undergoing final validation testing. The 2019 CT6 has never been seen in Sport trimmings before, making this sighting especially notable
Not to be confused with V-Sport, the new Sport trim is part of Cadillac’s new “Y trim level” strategy that gives the same vehicle different personas and characteristics. In the case of the CT6, the Y trim level structure looks like this:
The model seen here is the CT6 Sport with the 3.0L Twin Turbo engine and AWD. The vehicle is coated in Raven Black, which is Cadillac’s corporate non-metallic black color. Notably, Stellar Black Metallic is not available on the Sport trim level of the 2019 CT6. Either way, this car has a road presence like no other, and ended up stealing the spotlight as we watched it drive by.
At the front, the 2019 Cadillac CT6 Sport is wearing the brand’s new front fascia first introduced by the Escala Concept. The vehicle’s lights are redesigned to include a horizontal element alongside Cadillac’s signature vertical light bars. Those headlamps feature an all-LED setup, meaning that it’s used for both low beams and high beams.
The high-gloss black mesh grille with a bright galvano surround is specific to the CT6 Sport trim level, as is the front fascia extension with a body-color front splitter.
The 2019 Cadillac CT6 also features a new hood to accommodate the new light and grille designs.
The side view shows off more elements specific to the Sport trim level, including body color side moldings and black window surround trim. On non-Sport models, these elements are finished in bright chrome material.
This model is also wearing Sport-specific 19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels with an Ultra Bright Machined/Midnight Silver finish. V-Sport models get 20-inch wheels with a 5-spoke design.
All CT6 Sport models feature the very attractive and eye-catching Cadillac signature illuminated door handles.
Like the front, the rear of the 2019 Cadillac CT6 features the brand’s new design language, with the all-LED taillights gaining a new horizontal element to join the existing vertical lighting signature. The all-new taillights call for a redesigned decklid, which features an integrated spoiler. Additionally, the body-color rear fascia extension is also unique to the CT6 Sport trim.
Meanwhile, the quad exhaust outlets, along with the 3.0TT and AWD badges, tells everyone that your CT6 means business… something they’ll probably already know after this luxurious yet nimble bruiser blows by them.
