Raymond J RamirezParticipant
All the GM vehicles that I have own or driven (including rentals) have manual cable hood releases. So it is expected to have the same on the Lyriq. Anyway, there is little need to access the hood because there are few fluid reservoirs to check such as battery coolant, brake, and washer fluid.
Raymond J RamirezParticipantThat tax rebate should have been a sales rebate because many don’t pay that amount of taxes. I am retired abd I never pay Federal taxes so I will lose that credit.
Raymond J RamirezParticipantSummer ends in September. But Cadillac has already delivered Lyriq vehicles to the first buyers, so they fulfilled their promise. And the reservations for the 2024 model year are still open.
Raymond J RamirezParticipantElectric cars can run under water! They need no air supply except for cooling, and the battery and all motor drive fluids are sealed.

Raymond J RamirezParticipantDon’t buy the Lyriq if the dealer adds a markup to it. And post a message to Cadillac with the details on that dealer. They can punish the dealer by reducing its supply or cancelling the permit. There is no valid reason to pay for that markup, and if you wait for the 2024 model year, prices may drop with fewer or no markups.
Raymond J RamirezParticipantNone. GM will not build any future hybrids. Your best bet is to buy a used CT6 hybrid.
Anyway driving an electric crossover is better. Just don’t drive over its battery charge range. Just as you don’t drive until the gas tank is empty.
And as a fact, there are more electrical outlets to recharge than gas stations to refill!- This reply was modified 2 years, 5 months ago by Raymond J Ramirez. Reason: Add details
Raymond J RamirezParticipantCadillac has been slow to deliver the 2023 Lyriq. But this is expected because the normal month to begin deliveries is September. And I am in no hurry to order or buy one. I can wait for the 2024 model year or order for the 2025 model year, after the first year “bugs” have been engineered out. As for China, they are selling Cadillacs faster than hamburgers because there are more Chinese who have the income to buy them, their government gives more EV incentives, and they need to cut gasoline consumption. So Cadillac buyers are more interested and motivated in China.
Unless you can convince more people to buy local made cars there is no valid reason to criticize Cadillac for selling Lyriqs sooner in China.
Raymond J RamirezParticipantWhy buy it from China? I don’t live that far!!!
I can wait for the 2024 MY and get it locally. I am not in any rush to buy one.
Raymond J RamirezParticipantFor the 2024 model year? Maybe next year I will get it. Cannot get it now.
Raymond J RamirezParticipantThe “First Edition” production began March 21st, but I have not seen any news about it here, yet I did read about it at the GM Authority forum. And Cadillac announced another electric SUV but smaller, similar to the XT4 while the Lyriq compares to the XT5 in size.If it is below $50,000 it will be a better selling model than the Lyriq.
Raymond J RamirezParticipantThe “User Manual” may be found online at the Cadillac owner web site after formal production begins. I doubt that the “First Edition” production, which started this week, will have the manual available now.
As for your other questions, visit or call your local Cadillac dealer for the answers. I will not put a deposit until I see and sit in a real model, so my purchase will be next year in 2023 as I stated above in my first post. I am not in any hurry to buy it.
Raymond J RamirezParticipantCadillac did announced that a AWD option is possible in the future, but you naysayers are denying the good news instead of waiting. Probably none of you can afford it anyway. So get your own luxury AWD SUV somewhere else. Let us true Cadillac admirers enjoy the Lyriq as it will be offered now.
Raymond J RamirezParticipantMost present vehicles from various manufacturers already display the CD cover when playing a track from that CD album. My present 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid does that on its infotainment display when playing my MPEG3 collection (I have the Sirius system but I am not subscribed to it). I didn’t expect to see that when I bought it, though. It was a pleasant surprise! BTW, my Fusion Hybrid display can also play videos through the input jacks in the center console (it also has a 120 VAC outlet). I expect the Lyriq to have an 120 VAC outlet inside, too.
Raymond J RamirezParticipantYour sense of “disappointment” depends on your own expectations, not GM or Cadillac. There is and never will be a “perfect car”, unless you have the funds and knowledge to build it yourself (which is what Elon Musk did and failed). So you must either accept the offers in the auto marketplace, reject all of them, or lower your expectations. It is now your choice.
If your view of the Lyriq is already “disappointing”, just leave this forum and forget about it. Posting depressing comments for an object that has not been produced yet shows what type of person you really are. If you want a bad car , you will get what you want!
Raymond J RamirezParticipantThe common GM practice is to open ordering as soon as production begins. The expected date would be in September 2021 or later.
