The 2020 model year was a big year for future Cadillac models, with the luxury automaker launching three all-new models while refreshing another.
The three all-new models included the XT6 three-row crossover SUV, the CT4 sub-compact sedan and CT5 compact sedan. The refresh was to the Cadillac XT5 crossover SUV. Additionally, the 3.0L twin-turbo V6 engine (production code LFW) was discontinued in the CT6, along with the Sport trim level. Additionally, the CT6 is discontinued after the 2020 model year.
The 2021 model year introduces an all-new Escalade and Escalade ESV. The SUVs get an all-new exterior and interior, ride on an all-new platform, add independent rear suspension, an improved gasoline engine, an all-new turbo-diesel engine, significant improvements in interior space, plus heaps of new technology.
The 2022 model year will see the introduction of Cadillac’s ultra high-performance sedans: the CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing. In addition, the Cadillac Lyriq EV is expected to launch, arming the luxury automaker a dedicated EV built on an all-new platform with leading electric motors, battery cells, and technologies. The model is expected to launch in late 2021 as a 2022 model in North America, with the Chinese launch taking place slightly earlier. Additionally, the Cadillac XT4 refresh was initially planned for the 2022 model year, but it was pushed back to the 2023 model year due to issues stemming from COVID-19.
The 2023 model year will be a huge year for the future Cadillac model lineup, consisting of four refreshes, one model overhaul, plus the launch of two new variants of the Escalade. The four refreshes will entail the XT4, XT6, CT4 and CT5. Meanwhile, the Escalade will get new models on very different sides of the spectrum.
The first will be a high-performance variant of the Escalade and Escalade ESV. Powered by a supercharged 6.2L V8 engine and containing various chassis improvements, we are tentatively calling these models Escalade-V. On the other side of the spectrum, Cadillac will launch the Escalade EV, a battery electric version with roughly 400 miles of range and about 900 pound-feet of torque.
The 2024 model year will see an overhaul to the CT6 sedan on the VSS-R platform. As of this writing, this model is not expected to be sold in North America.
In addition, a new electric crossover is expected to join the future Cadillac lineup. This Cadillac EV will be roughly the size of the XT4 and will slot below the Lyriq.
For the 2025 model year, the Escalade is expected to get a slight refreshing, that might end up being a facelift rather than a full-on MCE. Additionally, the Cadillac Celestiq is expected to join the lineup as a large, full-size electric sedan. The vehicle is expected to have a starting price of around $200,000 and will be hand-built, save for the architecture, battery pack, and electric motors. The vehicle is meant to elevate Cadillac’s brand image.
