The Cadillac Fairfax plant is a vehicle assembly plant located in Kansas City, Kansas. Opened in 1987, the facility is owned and operated by Cadillac’s parent company, General Motors.
The first Cadillac model to be produced at the Fairfax factory was the Cadillac XT4 subcompact luxury crossover. Production began in mid-2018 for the 2019 model year.
Fairfax Assembly currently builds the Cadillac XT4 luxury crossover, which rides on the E2 platform.

The current Cadillac Fairfax Assembly plant is sometimes colloquially known as Fairfax No. 2, since the original plant, Fairfax No. 1, was located next to Fairfax Airport and served as the manufacturing location of the North American Bomber Production Plant that built the B-25 Mitchell during World War II.
After the war, General Motors purchased the building and converted it into an automotive manufacturing facility. The plant was responsible for manufacturing the F-84F jet-powered fighters alongside vehicles for consumers in 1952, making it the first industrial facility to operate as a dual-purpose manufacturer producing both automobiles and jet fighters under the same roof. Fairfax No. 1 continued both plane and vehicle production until 1986. During demolition in 1989, Fairfax No. 1 caught fire and burned to the ground, leaving almost no trace aside from a few runways, which are still visible to this day.
Vehicle production was moved to Fairfax No. 2 in 1986. The new facility, which cost almost $1 billion to build, commenced production for the 1988 model year.
Thirty years later, the Cadillac XT4 subcompact crossover was announced, and began production at Fairfax No. 2 in mid-2018 for the 2019 model year. So far, the XT4 is the first, and only, Cadillac to be built at the Kansas-based assembly plant.
