Cadillac Racing saw its first overall victory in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) circuit over the weekend at the 6 Hours of São Paulo. Better yet, the luxury marque finished the race in style with a commanding one-two punch as the No. 12 and No. 38 V-Series.R race cars of Cadillac Hertz Team JATO crossed the finish line in first and second place, respectively.
The No. 12 Cadillac Racing V.Series.R was piloted by Alex Lynn, Will Stevens, and Norman Nato. There was a bit of turbulence early on due to race penalty for an issue with the race car’s tire pressures, however, most of the race was smooth sailing for the No. 12 car, which led the pack for the majority of the six-hour race. In fact, it finished 57-seconds ahead of the No. 38 Cadillac Racing machine, which was driven by Sebastien Bourdais, Earl Bamber, and Jenson Button
“Honestly, it’s just amazing for everyone in this program,” driver Will Stevens said. “Obviously, to get Cadillac’s first win for us in the No. 12 car is pretty special. But obviously, for us as JOTA as well and carrying on the tradition of getting wins every year, I think super special.”
“This is only the beginning of a long program we have together. A goal for this year was to obviously make sure we win a race, but we have even bigger aspirations to keep on winning races and tick off the big boxes that we want to take in this program. Very special,” said Stevens.
This event marks the first win for the Cadillac Racing V-Series.R since it was introduced for competition at the start of the 2023 FIA WEC season.
