Mecum Auctions is about to bring a 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham Presidential Limousine used by President Bill Clinton during his years in the White House to the auction block.
This 1996 Fleetwood Brougham Presidential is a truly unique opportunity, given that the Secret Service is ordered to destroy presidential limos when they are no longer in use. This is the only known armored U.S. presidential limousine currently in private hands, though several other unarmored limos were in the collection of Cadillac dealer Jack Tallman at the time this particular vehicle was built.
It’s not clear how this 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham Presidential limo ended up for sale in the private sector. It is one of a trio of such vehicles built for Clinton at a total cost of about $6 million. A second of the three is displayed in the William J. Clinton Presidential Library and Museum in Little Rock, Arkansas while the third is in CIA hands, and may have been destroyed.
The Cadillac Brougham limo has just 627 miles on its odometer and includes all of the protective equipment designed to keep the president safe, including an armored exterior, B6 blast-proofing, bulletproof door glass that is three inches thick, fire suppression systems and an oxygen supply, plus run-flat tires that enable driving even after puncturing.
The limousine is also kitted out with the expected special-purpose and luxury features. American flags are mounted on the front fenders and the vehicle has emergency lights and a siren. A public address system and telephone are included in its equipment list. Blue leather upholsters the interior with Zebrano wood accents, while a set of custom Delco instrument panel gauges is present ahead of the driver. The roof is raised three inches to provide a more spacious interior.
Under the hood, this Fleetwood Brougham cradles a 454 cubic-inch V8 engine hand-constructed by Jack Roush. The eight is paired with a four-speed automatic transmission.
As might be expected, it has a clean Carfax report.
The 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham Presidential Limo will cross the Mecum Kissimmee 2025 auction block at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Florida on Saturday, January 18th. It will be sold alongside 4,500 other rare and classic vehicles as one of the most unique Cadillac cars any collector could add to their collection.
The vehicle sold back in 2008 for $275,000 in the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction, but how much it will fetch this time is anyone’s guess.
Such as likely zero-to-60 time.
Sales increased 8.8 percent to 160,204 units during the complete 2024 calendar year.
One of four new colors for the 2025 model year.
And it now represents the best value in its segment.
