Not only is the Cadillac Lyriq the marque’s first all-electric vehicle, but it’s also the first in years to be offered Germany. The luxury crossover has already made waves in the European country, having recently been named the German Luxury Car of the Year, marking the first time an American-made vehicle has ever received the honor. John Roth, vice president of Global Cadillac, broke the exciting news for the Lyriq in a post on social media.
The German Luxury Car of the Year is selected by a group of approximately 40 European auto experts with a mission statement to “recognize and inspire excellence and innovation in the automotive industry.”
“All awards are appreciated, but this one, from an established global luxury market like Germany, is tremendous recognition that we have delivered a truly extraordinary vehicle,” wrote Roth. “The Lyriq is the cornerstone of the brand’s electric future and is proving to be a solid foundation to build upon globally. The Lyriq’s formula for success includes great design, more than 300 miles of range and a competitive price. We will follow the same formula for future Cadillac EVs, including the Optiq and Escalade IQ, which hit the market later this year, and the Vistiq, which we look forward to revealing later this year.”
The Cadillac Lyriq recently landed in Germany, where Cadillac is in the process of opening Experience Centers in Frankfurt and Hamburg. As a reminder, Experience Centers are not traditional dealerships, but rather boutique shopping centers often located in malls. The luxury marque also plans to expand its service network and develop an app designed specifically for Germany.
The German-spec Lyriq features a dual motor setup good for 528 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque (610 Nm). While this model is very similar to its North American counterpart, the Lyriq has been adapted for the German market, featuring a specially tuned suspension, high-performance summer tires, Brembo brakes, and revised steering.
The Cadillac Lyriq is underpinned by the BEV3 platform, and production for all markets except China takes place at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.
One of four new colors for the 2025 model year.
And it now represents the best value in its segment.
