2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Precision Package: Manual Or Auto

2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Precision Package: Manual Or Auto

In July, Cadillac announced the 2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Precision Package, making the already track-ready luxury super sedan even more of a menace on the asphalt with a host of chassis and performance upgrades. At the time, it wasn’t clear if the package would be exclusively available for models equipped with manual transmissions, or if it would also be available with an automatic transmission, prompting Cadillac Society to set out in search of the answer.

Cadillac Society Executive Editor, Alex Luft, recently sat down for an interview with Cadillac executive chief engineer, Brandon Vivian, who confirmed that the 2025 CT5-V Blackwing Precision Package is available with both the manual and automatic transmission. As a reminder, the (buttery smooth) six-speed manual transmission is standard on the 2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, while the 10-speed automatic is an extra-cost option.

As a reminder, the CT5-V Blackwing Precision Package adds features like increased spring rates, a larger front stabilizer bar, revised suspension bushings, new front steering knuckles, and a carbon ceramic brake package for improved roadholding abilities at speed. The package also recalibrates certain vehicle subsystems for optimal performance, including Magnetic Ride Control dampers, steering, chassis control, and the electronic limited slip differential. Vivian says that this package was built “to set records on some of the toughest tracks around the world and reward the most discerning driving enthusiast.”

The CT5-V Blackwing underwent a midcycle refresh for the 2025 model year, highlighted by a revamped front end. The ultra-high-performance sedan now features vertically stacked LED headlights hemmed in with uninterrupted vertical lighting elements on either side of the front fascia. Inside, the refreshed model features a new 33-inch, curved LED color touchscreen display, an enhanced (optional) Performance Data Recorder, plus a new Performance in-vehicle app.

Under the hood, the 2025 CT5-V Blackwing retains the supercharged 6.2L V8 gasoline engine (production code LT4), rated at 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque, which mates to either the standard manual or optional automatic transmission. Regardless of transmission, rear-wheel-drive is the sole drivetrain option.

Production for the 2025 CT5-V Blackwing Precision Package will begin at the Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan in early 2025, while production of the “regular” 2025 Cadillac CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing began in mid-July 2024. Pricing and availability for the Precision Package has not yet been announced, but it’s worth noting that the 2025 CT5-V Blackwing without the optional package starts at $96,990.
