Back in March, Cadillac Society reported that the second-gen Cadillac XT5 would debut this year in China. After all kinds of exclusive reports (and more than one of them), along with leaked images of the exterior and of the interior, plus all kinds of spy shots, the day of the reveal has finally come.
The vehicle was revealed today, Friday, August 2nd during a special event at Cadillac House in Shanghai. Not to be confused with the first-generation XT5 sold in North America, the all-new 2025 XT5 for China represents the second generation of the XT5 nameplate.
Riding on an iterated variant of the C1 platform known internally as C1-2, the all-new 2025 Cadillac XT5 features new sheetmetal with larger dimensions and new proportions, while also adopting the latest evolution of Cadillac’s design language. The vehicle is three inches longer (192.4 inches long) and 2.1 inches wider (77 inches wide), and features a bolder design at the front and rear, along with a slightly revised profile, resulting in a planted stance along with a more modern and elegant demeanor.
The model shown here is the Sport trim, which features several trim-specific elements such as the mesh-style grille, plus a range of black trim pieces, including the window (DLO) trim, gloss black accenting and contrasting, and red-painted front brake calipers. The Sport trim differs substantially from the 2025 XT5 seen in leaked images previously, which showed the redesigned crossover in base trim with bright accent work.
The all-new 2025 Cadillac XT5 is set to officially launch in the Chinese market in the coming weeks, which is when Cadillac’s parent in China, SAIC-GM, will reveal complete details and specs, including powertrain, features and equipment. Cadillac Society sources have indicated that GM’s initial plans included offering the second-gen XT5 only in China, though GM did consider bringing it to North America.
