The Cadillac House At Vanderbilt: New Photos

The Cadillac House at Vanderbilt, located within the GM Technical Center campus in Warren, Michigan, is the home of the bespoke Cadillac Celestiq. Here, buyers of the ultra-luxury electric sedan are invited to collaborate with designers to customize it precisely to their desires. The luxury marque recently lifted the curtain on the state-of-the-art facility, releasing a series of photos that show what Celestiq buyers can expect to experience firsthand.

The Cadillac House is described as a “modernist glass jewel box” and is the crown jewel of the Celestiq’s customer-driven design process. It was designed by Eero Saarinen and “served as a canvas for the designers to envision Cadillac brand in a historic context providing an unparalleled custom commission experience.”

A massive 36-foot-long gold screen, designed by Detroit-based artist Harry Bertoia, welcomes visitors to the facility. They are then greeted by an example of the Cadillac Celestiq on a turntable, allowing for a glimpse of the ultra-luxury electric fastback from every angle before delving into its design process.

Once inside, customers are guided through every step of their Celestiq’s design, including exterior color as well as interior colorways and materials. Color and fabric samples are concealed behind a series of wooden panels that can be moved to expose the choices and samples hidden behind. The panels were built to resemble the “Mondrian pattern” found in the Cadillac crest itself, creating a stylistic parallel between the design center and the Celestiq.

The Cadillac House also features a myriad seating areas for buyers to relax in during the design process, while the facility’s open layout ensures beautiful views from any location inside. The luxury marque notes that access to the House is extremely limited, and visitors are allowed in by invitation only. In fact, it only began welcoming its first clients to design their Cadillac Celestiq in late 2023. Once customers make their design choices, the vehicle will be assembled almost entirely by hand at the Artisan Center located on campus.

The Cadillac Celestiq rides on the luxury marque’s BEV3 platform and harnesses an 111 kWh battery pack and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive propulsion system. The powertrain provides a maximum driving range of 300 miles on a single charge, while delivering 600 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque. While the first units were initially expected to be 2024 model year vehicles, they ended up launching as 2025 model year vehicles instead, as first reported by Cadillac Society. Pricing for the newfound flagship starts at $340,000.
