Cadillac Lyriq Arrives In Germany

The Cadillac Lyriq has been slowly expanding the luxury marque’s presence in Europe. Late last year, the electric luxury crossover landed in Switzerland before making its way to France just a few months ago, with sights on Sweden in the near future. Now, the latest European market that the Lyriq will enter is Germany, where it will land in the Summer 2024.

The German-spec Cadillac Lyriq will be priced to start at €80,500 (approximately $86,600 USD). While it is very similar to its North American counterpart, the Lyriq has been adapted for the German market, featuring a specially tuned suspension, high-performance summer tires, Brembo brakes and revised steering.

Four drive modes, including Tour, Snow/Ice, Sport and My Mode, adapt various vehicle subsystems to make the luxury crossover ready for just about any driving condition. These can be accessed via the infotainment system, which features the same 33-inch curved screen as its North American counterpart, along with a 19-speaker AKG Studio audio system.

Power is exclusively provided by a 388 kW dual motor setup, good for 528 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque (610 Nm). While that appears to be greater than the 500 horsepower rating for the North American Lyriq, the difference can be explained by a disparity in power measurement procedures. In other words, the European-spec Lyriq is not more powerful than the models sold stateside.

As for the bones, the Cadillac Lyriq is underpinned by the BEV3 platform, while production for all markets except China takes place at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.

Looking ahead, the luxury marque is expected to soon release another all-electric model for the German market. That will likely be the Cadillac Optiq, which slots in beneath the Cadillac Lyriq in the ever-growing EV lineup.
