Some Cadillac Lyriq Units Need Battery Control Module Reprogramming

Cadillac has released a service update for certain units of the 2023 and 2024 Cadillac Lyriq that may present with an issue surrounding the battery control module that can cause a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) to set.

Tagged N232429880, the service bulletin indicates that affected units of the Lyriq may have a software defect in the battery control module that can throw a DTC. In order to correct the issue, the battery control module must be reprogrammed. This procedure should take under one hour and will be performed at no cost to vehicle owners. No parts are required for the repair.

Because this is a service bulletin, rather than a recall, it will expire at the end of the affected vehicle’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty period. The work must be completed at an authorized Cadillac EV dealer by a technician who has successfully completed the applicable technical training. The luxury marque did not indicate how many units of the Cadillac Lyriq may be affected by this issue.

As a reminder, the Lyriq rides on the luxury marque’s BEV3 platform, and is assembled at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee for all markets except for China. The Lyriq can be outfitted with a single Ultium Drive motor on the rear axle for rear-wheel-drive, while second Ultium Drive motor can be mounted to the front axle, granting all-wheel-drive.

Rear-wheel-drive boasts an approximate driving range of 308 miles from a single charge, delivering 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. Selecting all-wheel-drive grants 307 miles of driving range per charge, while upgrading output to 500 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque.
