2024 Cadillac Escalade Rear-Door Express-Up Window Control Available Again

With a slow but steady return to normalcy in the auto industry, features are finding their way back to vehicle options lists and build sheets, including the Cadillac Escalade. In fact, 2024 model year Cadillac Escalades have been built with the rear-door express-up feature once again, Cadillac Society has learned.

The express-up feature for the rear doors, which returned to the Escalade starting with, January 7th production, went under constraint during the global microchip shortage, affecting some 2022 and 2023 Cadillac Escalade units. Impacted models lost the express-up feature for the rear windows, while retaining the express-up and express-down function for the front windows, as well as an express-down function for the rears. The return means 2024 Cadillac Escalade customers will only need to give the window switch a quick pull to wind the window up, rather than holding the button until the window has reached the closed position.

In addition to the controls on the driver’s door, owners can normally raise and lower all windows remotely via the key fob. The windows can be dropped by double tapping and holding the UNLOCK button for three seconds, and can be raised by double tapping and holding the LOCK button for three seconds.

Buyers can see any of the features missing from a prospective purchase by looking at the window sticker (aka the Monroney label). Any features that were under constraint at the time of production will be listed with a $50 credit, with a note that the feature will be available for future retrofit.

As a reminder, the 2024 Cadillac Escalade represents the fourth model year of the full-size luxury SUV’s fifth generation. Three engine options are available for the 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 models. The naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 (production code L87), rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque is standard. The 3.0 I6 turbo diesel (production code LM2), rated at 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, is optional. Finally, the supercharged 6.2L V8 (production code LT4), rated at 682 horsepower and 653 pound-feet of torque, is included exclusively on the Cadillac Escalade-V. All three engine options bolt to Cadillac’s 10-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels or all four wheels with optional 4WD, while the Escalade-V exclusively features an all-wheel-drive system for optimal power distribution.
