The 2024 Cadillac CT5 can, in fact, tow a moderate load if properly equipped. Below, Cadillac Society breaks down just how much the luxury sedan is rated to haul.
Before we get into the details, let’s briefly revisit the Cadillac CT5’s three engine options. The turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine (production code LSY), rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, is standard on Luxury, Premium Luxury and Sport trims. Meanwhile, the twin-turbo 3.0L V6 engine (production code LGY) is optional for the CT5 Premium Luxury, rated at 335 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque, while the same engine is tuned to deliver 360 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque in the CT5-V. Finally, the ultra-high-performance CT5-V Blackwing harnesses the supercharged 6.2L V8 engine (production code LT4), which is rated at 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque.
The 10-speed transmission is standard for the “regular” CT5 models as well as the CT5-V. It’s optional on the CT5-V Blackwing, which is the only vehicle in the CT5 range to feature the six-speed manual transmission as standard.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at the 2024 Cadillac CT5 towing capacities:
Trim Level | Drivetrain | Turbo 2.0L I4 LSY | Twin-Turbo 3.0L V6 LGY | Supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 | |||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Axle Ratio | Max Trailer Weight (lbs / kg) | Axle Ratio | Max Trailer Weight (lbs / kg) | Axle Ratio | Max Trailer Weight (lbs / kg) | ||

CT5-V Blackwing with 10-speed automatic | RWD | - | - | - | - | 2.85 | 0 |
So then, the 2024 Cadillac CT5 Luxury, Premium Luxury and Sport are rated to tow up to 1,000 pounds. Note that Cadillac does not recommend towing with either the CT5-V or CT5-V Blackwing.
Cadillac does not offer a hitch for the 2024 Cadillac CT5, so owners interested in hauling with the luxury sedan will have to find an aftermarket unit. Additionally, Cadillac recommends using 89 octane fuel or higher while towing. Failure to do so may result in engine damage.
Looking ahead, a midcycle refresh is on the way for the 2025 Cadillac CT5, bringing about a fresh front fascia and an updated interior.

Not sure why they don’t have a much higher tow rating, especially the Blackwing. No shortage of power and the components should be very robust for the job. I’ll be looking for a solution for a bigger hitch on my CT5 Blackwing, if it ever comes….( ordered August 2022, still waiting)

Neither Curt nor Draw-tite make a hitch.
