The Cadillac Celestiq Features A ‘Frunk’

While the 2024 Cadillac Celestiq ultra-luxury sedan may appear outwardly similar to its internal combustion engine-powered counterparts, under the skin, they’re very different. Obviously, the Celestiq doesn’t have a gasoline engine crammed under the hood, allowing designers to designate (part of) the underhood compartment for storage instead of power, and new photos reveal what the vehicle’s front trunk (or “frunk”) looks like.

The specific Celestiq in these photos, which is coated in an eye-catching shade of red called Habanero, was spotted on the streets of Vancouver for a video shoot. A handful of pictures of the ultra-luxury EV made the rounds on social media shortly thereafter.

What we see is a modest compartment set in a shape vaguely reminiscent of the five-point Cadillac Crest, outlined in silver trim. It’s difficult to see much detail from the angle of these photos, but the storage compartment is surrounded by plastic covers that conceal the Celestiq’s more intricate bits like electronics. Meanwhile, the compartment itself features a blue lining.

Overall, the Celestiq’s frunk seems like a perfect place to store random paraphernalia, or perhaps a briefcase full of currency.

Other unique features found on the Celestiq include a deployable rear spoiler, which is extended and retracted by electric motors. Cadillac Society spotted an example showing off the neat piece of aero tech recently. The Celestiq will also be one of the first vehicles to boast Ultra Cruise, a highly advanced driver assist technology that is capable of automatic driving in most real-world scenarios. As Cadillac’s no-holds-barred flagship, the Celestiq is certainly not cheap, carrying a starting price of $340,000

As for what drives the Cadillac Celestiq, the ultra-luxury EV sedan harnesses a 111 kWh battery pack and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive propulsion system that provides 300 miles of driving range on a single charge while delivering 600 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque. The model rides on the BEV3 platform, which was developed to exclusively underpin battery electric vehicles.
