The Cadillac XT5 has been one of many vehicle subject to have not been equipped with some features due to the global microchip shortage. For instance, models were shipped without Front and Rear Park Assist. Now, Cadillac Society has learned that retrofits are now underway to outfit the 2022 and 2023 XT5 with park assist features.
Impacted units of the 2022 Cadillac XT5 were assembled at the Cadillac Spring Hill plant in Tennessee after December 20th, 2022. Meanwhile, all 2023 Cadillac XT5 units have been assembled without Front and Rear Park Assist (production code UD5) intact. When it is available, Front and Rear Park Assist is normally standard across all XT5 trim levels, including Luxury, Premium Luxury and Sport. Affected vehicles were denoted by production code 00Z, as displayed on their window stickers at the time of sale.
The luxury marque is currently in the process of contacting owners of affected Cadillac XT5 units with instructions to have Front and Rear Park Assist installed and activated. In order to do so, the dealer will need to remove and replace the park assist control module in order to restore the feature. This procedure will be performed at no cost to vehicle owners.
As a reminder, the Luxury and Premium Luxury trim levels of the 2023 Cadillac XT5 are powered by the turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine (production code LSY) as standard, which is rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. These models wear the 350T badge on the liftgate. The naturally-aspirated 3.6L V6 engine (production code LGX), rated at 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque, is optional on the Premium Luxury trim and standard on the Sport trim. Models with this engine feature the 400 badge on the liftgate.
Both engine options bolt to Cadillac’s nine-speed automatic transmission. On Luxury and Premium Luxury trims, front-wheel-drive is standard while all-wheel-drive is available as an optional upgrade. The Sport trim, meanwhile, features all-wheel-drive as standard.
While production of the 2023 model year is already underway, the 2024 XT5 will soon begin rolling off the assembly line in June 2023.
