2023 Cadillac Escalade Gets Expanded Super Cruise Coverage

As many Cadillac Society readers know well, Super Cruise allows drivers of an equipped vehicle to take their hands off the wheel and off the pedals under certain highway driving conditions and on compatible roads. To that end, Cadillac recently announced plans to expand the network of roads that are compatible with Super Cruise for select vehicles, including the 2023 Cadillac Escalade and its extended-length variant, the 2023 Cadillac Escalade ESV.

Super Cruise (production code UKL) will now be compatible with over 400,000 miles of North American roads, effectively doubling its driving network for vehicles like the 2023 Cadillac Escalade. This expansion applies to units of the luxury SUV that rolled off the assembly line after October 3rd, 2022, and will be rolled out via an over-the-air (OTA) update. These updates will be supplied at no additional charge to owners of the 2023 Cadillac Escalade.

As a reminder, Super Cruise is an optional extra available on the Premium Luxury, Sport, Premium Luxury Platinum, Sport Platinum and Escalade-V trim levels, and is not offered at all on the base Luxury trim. It adds $2,500 to the overall cost of the luxury SUV, and its availability has been spotty over the last few model years thanks to ongoing supplier issues, particularly the microchip shortage.

As part of the expansion plan, Cadillac parent, General Motors, expects to make Super Cruise available in 22 models across its portfolio by the end of the 2023 calendar year, while Ultra Cruise, the ultra-advanced driver assist technology that will succeed Super Cruise, will become available later on for “certain premium entries.” This will include the Cadillac Celestiq electric ultra luxury flagship sedan, which will be one of first vehicles to harness the technology.
