Cadillac Racing will compete in the 2023 running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June with three Caddy-badged race cars, each featuring a unique paint scheme for the luxury marque’s return to the iconic event after a two-decade-long hiatus.
Cadillac’s race cars have been renamed, and are now referred to as the V-Series.R. These hybrid-electric racing machines already made their competition debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona, proving that they will be ones to watch throughout the IMSA season. At Le Mans, the V-Series.R racers will compete for victory within the Hypercar class.
“We are thrilled to return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the full Cadillac Racing team,” said Global Vice President of Cadillac, Rory Harvey. “Over the last 20 years Cadillac Racing has built a legacy of winning on the track and we feel very privileged to return to Le Mans during this exciting new electrified era in racing.”
As a reminder, the V-Series.R was codeveloped by Cadillac Design, Cadillac Racing and Dallara. It began life as the Project GTP hypercar prototype, which was revealed in mid-2022, and features design signatures familiar to the luxury marque, including vertical lighting and floating blades. The V-Series.R harnesses a Cadillac 5.5L DOHC V8 engine mated to a hybrid electric propulsion system.
