Cadillac’s parent company, General Motors, has released a service bulletin to address an issue with the internal seam and underbody sealers in the 2023 Cadillac XT5.
The problem: the internal seam and underbody sealer may have failed during in-plant adhesion testing.
The hazards: a failure occurring in the internal seam and underbody sealer could compromise the luxury crossover’s vehicle structure.
The fix: a dealership technician will inspect the sealer and apply new sealer to affected areas. The sealer should not be ordered from GMCCA (GM Customer Care & Afersales). Instead, 3M Bare Metal Sealer (part no. 8310) should be used. The repair process should take approximately four hours to complete.
Affected components: internal seam and underbody sealer.
Affected vehicles: 2023 Cadillac XT5.
Number of affected vehicles: Cadillac did not specify how many units of the 2023 Cadillac XT5 may be affected by this condition.
Next steps: owners of affected vehicles will be notified by mail via a letter containing instructions on how to proceed. Additionally, owners can reach out to Cadillac directly using the contact information included below.

I ordered my XT 5 in May, have yet to receive ie, and already 2 recalls have been made on the vehicle – the parking lights and now this which sounds pretty serious. By the time I get my vehicle, the 2024s will be in production. I get no information from customer service or my dealer.
What’s happened to Cadillac?

I ordered my Escalade Premium Luxury Platinum on Feb. 2022, had a factory order confirmation only to be cancelled because the 2023’s were coming out .Still waiting on order confirmation. Very disappointing for a customer whom has has 15 prior GM’s.

Like all of GM, they think they have to change change change, so once they finally get things right, they will be doing a new structure or infrastructure. Like GM had a great 4 cyl turbo engine used in so many of their car, not Caddy uses this pathetic low powered NEW version of a turbo 4 cyl. Same thing with tranny, the 10 speed, always noisy shifting. I drove the 2023 CT5 with it and it was a very unrefined experience. And on highway at 60 the RPM was at 3,500!! My turbo 4 on my Malibu with only a 6 speed auto, the RPM is less than half of that. Its like GM forgot how to engineer engines and trannys. They aren’t worried as they have given up and looking forward to being the best ELECTRIC cars. Good luck with that, where is an electric SUV going to get charged at the millions of vacation condo buildings and motels that only have room for one parking space per unit. We will NEED gas powered vehicles for a long time. Electric is OK for commuters parking back at home every night.

John, Too busy caring for the structural seam on the “luxury” vehicle.
