The all-new battery electric Cadillac Celestiq ultra-luxury sedan made its first public appearance, debuting in China at the 2022 China International Import Expo (CIIE), thanks to the Durant Guild import organization.
The Durant Guild was announced by Cadillac and its parent company, General Motors, back in September as a platform that will make it possible for vehicles like the Celestiq to be imported to the Asian country. At CIIE, the Durant Guild brought a handful of GM vehicles, including the 2024 Cadillac Celestiq, to show off to enthusiasts and potential customers.
“[The vehicles] appearing at CIIE are highly desirable and represent General Motors’ innovation in the ultra-luxury, performance all-electric full-size SUV and supercar segments,s” said President and Managing Director of The Durant Guild, Felix Weller. “We learned at CIIE in past years that Chinese consumers are looking for more exclusive, more diverse, and more premium products and high-quality service and experiences. This year, we are showing that we can deliver.”
After various delays, the Cadillac Celestiq show car was finally unveiled in July 2022, promising to be the most customizable vehicle in the luxury marque’s lineup to date. It was revealed in production form in mid-October, disclosing powertrain specs and other important details. Speaking of the powertrain, the 2024 Cadillac Celestiq features a 111 kWh battery pack and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive propulsion system. Cadillac estimates its setup will be good for approximately 300 miles of driving range on a single charge while providing a whopping 600 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque. The ultra luxury sedan is capable of sprinting from zero to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds
The electric ultra luxury sedan will be hand built in very small numbers at the GM Global Technical center in Michigan, allowing its builders to craft even the most minute detail before being shipped to its buyers in the U.S. and China.
