The Cadillac XT5 was introduced into the luxury marque’s lineup for the 2017 model year as an all-new midsize crossover to replace the second-generation SRX. Three years later, the XT5 received a mid-cycle refresh for the 2020 model year. Initially, we expected that Cadillac would introduce a heavily updated XT5 for the 2023 model year, but now, Cadillac Society has learned that these updates have been delayed.
As such, 2023 will represent the seventh model year of the luxury crossover’s first generation. This news doesn’t come as much of a surprise, however. The automotive industry as a whole has been plagued by production setbacks stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting supplier issuer-related issues.
As a reminder, the 2022 model year brought a few minor changes to the Cadillac XT5, including two new exterior paint colors – Rosewood Metallic and Latte Metallic to replace two existing colors – Shadow Metallic and Garnet Metallic. Additionally, the Near Field Communication (NFC) smartphone pairing feature was deleted, as were the 20-inch 12-spoke alloy wheels finished in Pearl Nickel (production code Q6Q).
As a reminder, the 2022 Cadillac XT5 features two engine options. The turbocharged 2.0L (production code LSY) engine is standard on the (base) Luxury and Premium Luxury models, where it makes 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. These models wear the 350T badge on the liftgate. Meanwhile, the naturally-aspirated 3.6L V6 (production code LGX) is optional on the Premium Luxury trim while being standard on the Sport model. The atmospheric six is rated at 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. These models feature the 400 badge out back. Both engines mate to Cadillac’s nine-speed automatic transmission. We expect both engine options to continue for the 2023 model year.
At this time, it’s not clear when or even if the Cadillac XT5 will be updated, but we’ll bring you the details as soon as we have them. One of four new colors for the 2025 model year.
And it now represents the best value in its segment.
A curious sighting from a video of the Cadillac design studio.
