The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is the first step toward the luxury marque’s all-electric future. While the very first units to roll off the line are rear-wheel-drive only, there is an all-wheel-drive model inbound, and we now have a new tid-bit of information about it.
Over the course of May, Cadillac shared several details about the Lyriq AWD for the U.S. market, including pricing and horsepower. The luxury marque hasn’t announced the torque figure of the AWD electric crossover, until now. In a press release, Cadillac China revealed that the Lyriq AWD will have a torque rating of 710 Nm, which translates to 524 pound-feet of torque.
Additionally, the press release states that the Cadillac Lyriq AWD has a driving range of up to 600 km on a single charge based on data from the Chinese Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC). The RWD variant, for comparison, has a driving range of 653 km. The EPA estimates that the Lyriq RWD is capable of driving 312 miles on a single charge. Taking that statistic into account, it can then be calculated that the Lyriq AWD will have a driving range of 287 miles.
In the same press release, Cadillac also states that the Cadillac Lyriq AWD is capable of zero to 100 km/h (zero – 62 mph) in 4.9 seconds, while the 340-horsepower RWD model can get up to 100 km/h in 6.35 seconds. The Lyriq RWD top speed is rated at 190 km/h (118 mph), while the Lyriq AWD can hustle up to a 210 km/h (130 mph) top speed.
The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq utilizes Ultium battery technology in conjunction with Ultium Drive motor technology. The luxury crossover, which is also Cadillac’s first-ever electric vehicle, is underpinned by the all-new BEV3 vehicle platform. Lyriq production for the North American market recently began at the end of March, taking place at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee, while pre-production of the Lyriq for China began earlier in May at the Jinqiao Cadillac China plant in Shanghai, China.
