68 Percent Of Cadillac Lyriq Buyers Are Gen X Or Gen Y

The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is the luxury marque’s first-ever all-electric vehicle, and so far, the new luxury crossover is appealing to a younger buyer demographic.

In a recent conference call attended by Cadillac Society, the luxury marque revealed that 68 percent of Cadillac Lyriq buyers are either Gen X or Gen Y. For reference, people born between the years 1965 and 1980 (after the Baby Boomer generation) are considered to belong to Gen X, while individuals with a birthdate between the years 1981 and 1995 are considered to be Gen Y, otherwise known as Millennials.

Considering that the Cadillac Lyriq represents the luxury marque’s first foray into the electric vehicle realm, it makes sense that the battery electric luxury crossover would draw the attention of a younger demographic.

As a reminder, the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is underpinned by the all-new BEV3 platform, driven by a Ultium Drive technology coupled with Ultium batteries in a skateboard layout that facilitates rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive, depending on the application.

The first Lyriq model to be produced is the Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition, which was offered exclusively in the Luxury trim level and rear-wheel-drive. It will be followed by Luxury models without the Debut Edition nomenclature or hardware. This model, however, will be available in either rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive, with the latter launching in the beginning of the 2023 calendar year. Power output is 340 horsepower for RWD models and 500 horsepower for AWD models. Pricing for the Lyriq Luxury RWD starts at $62,900, while the Lyriq Luxury AWD starts at $64,900. More well-equipped trim levels, such as Premium Luxury and Sport, are expected to come to market later on in the cadence.

The Cadillac Lyriq offers over 300 miles of driving range on a single charge, and production takes place at the at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.
