A few months ago, the ongoing global microchip shortage forced limited availability of heated seats on certain Cadillac models, including the XT5. Cadillac Society has since learned that the unavailability of heated rear outboard seats in the 2022 Cadillac XT5 has been resolved, with the feature having returned to the luxury crossover.
For the 2022 Cadillac XT5, heated outboard rear seats (production code KA6), have been under constraint since November 15th, 2021 production. However, the feature is now once again available as of February 21st, 2022 production.
Rear heated seats are only included as part of the tri-zone automatic climate control package, available as a $1,200 extra on XT5 Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels. The feature cannot be equipped as a standalone option, and is not available at all on the base Luxury trim level.
While heated rear outboard seats have returned to the XT5, other features still remain in limbo as the semiconductor shortage persists. These include heated steering wheel, front and rear park assist features, along with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionalities. At this time, it’s still not clear when these features will return.
Cadillac indicated that it would be able to retrofit certain components, such as heated seats, on vehicles that were produced without them at a later date. However, as with other features missing from the XT5, it’s not clear when this could take place.
As a reminder, the Luxury and Premium Luxury trim levels of the 2022 Cadillac XT5 are equipped with the turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine (production code LSY) as standard, which is rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The naturally-aspirated 3.6L V6 engine (production code LGX), rated at 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque, is optional on the Premium Luxury trim and standard on the Sport trim. Both engine options bolt to Cadillac’s nine-speed automatic transmission, with either front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive.
