Most 2022 Cadillac Models Will Have Limited Heated Steering Wheel Availability

The ongoing global microchip shortage has caused many features to be deleted from Cadillac models currently in production, and now, Cadillac Society has learned that the heated steering wheel feature in most of the luxury marque’s 2022 model year lineup has been affected.

The limited availability of the heated steering wheel feature affects the CT4, CT5, XT4, XT5 and XT6. As of this writing, the only unaffected vehicle is the Escalade.

  1. Feature made unavailable as of November 15 production.
  2. Heated steering wheel still available, but automatic activation feature removed.
  3. Feature made unavailable as of December 6 production.
  4. Feature made unavailable as of November 22 production.
  5. Feature made available again as of November 29 production.

All affected models with Luxury, Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels that were assembled with the heated steering wheel feature intact did not receive the automatic activation feature that accompanies it. However, some units of the CT4 and CT5 luxury sedans, as well as the XT4 luxury crossover, that will be produced after December 6th will not have the heated steering wheel feature at all until microchip supply constraints are eased.

Units of the Cadillac XT5 and XT6 luxury crossovers assembled between November 22nd and November 29th did not have the heated steering wheel feature included at all. However, as of this writing, all units are currently being produced with the feature intact.

Earlier this week, we also learned that all Cadillac crossover models would also have limited availability of heated and ventilated seats until further notice.

When the heated steering wheel feature will return depends on the future availability of microchips. Affected models may receive a small credit ranging between $150 and $500 toward the vehicle MSRP, depending on the features affected. Cadillac has also indicated that it will retrofit some of these vehicles with the affected feature once more microchips become available, likely in the third quarter of 2022. This service will be performed at no cost to the vehicle owner.
