The all-new, fully-electric 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition sold out minutes after Cadillac opened reservations in the United States on September 18th, 2021.
Customers interested in reserving a Lyriq were asked to put down a $100 pre-order deposit, which is fully refundable and non-binding and can be cancelled at any time.
Cadillac has not specified how many units of the 2023 Lyriq Debut Edition will be built. Pre-orders of other Lyriq variants are expected to become available beginning summer 2022.
Cadillac vice president, Rory Harvey, estimated that as many as 200,000 individual customers have expressed interest in Cadillac’s first fully-electric crossover since the it was revealed.
“Today, reservations sold out in just over ten minutes and we continue to see a lot of enthusiasm around the brand – both current product and in our fully-electric future,” Harvey said. “The initial response for Lyriq has been extraordinary.”
The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition harnesses a 100.4 kWh lithium-ion Ultium battery pack and a single Ultium Drive motor mounted on the rear axle. The electric driveline is rated at 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque, and Cadillac estimates the Lyriq will have 300 miles of range from a full charge, despite the significant 5,610 pounds of weight riding on the chassis. The Lyriq is built on the BEV3 platform.
Standard equipment on the Lyriq Debut Edition include a heated steering wheel, active noise cancellation, a panoramic glass moonroof, power-adjustable driver and passenger seats with a massage function, Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assistant, as well as a 33-inch LED display with an interface developed using Altia tools.
Interestingly, the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq will not feature a frunk like other competing electric vehicles. Order books for the Lyriq are expected to open in China, Cadillac’s largest global market by sales volume, very soon.
