Cadillac’s first-ever fully electric crossover, the Lyriq, promises a seamless combination of high-end luxury and revolutionary technology. In order to deliver the best possible user experience behind the wheel, the Lyriq will feature a human-machine interface (HMI) developed using Altia, a high-end GUI editor specially designed for embedded displays.
“Altia enables ultimate creativity through their unique HMI development strategy – supporting extensive configurability of cockpit displays, including the one found in Lyriq,” said Scott Martin, Creative Director of User Interface Design for Cadillac. “Altia provides a straightforward workflow that accommodates a wide variety of graphics assets – including real-time 3D. With Altia, we can design distinctive and cohesive displays and get truly innovative products to market quickly.”
Graphics created using Altia’s cutting edge HMI developer will be presented on the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq’s 33-inch LED display, which is capable of producing over a billion colors for the sharpest image possible. The screen handles readouts for the electric crossover’s instrumentation, as well as various onboard controls and infotainment. Additionally, this screen can be divided into three separate sections depending on the user’s preference.
The Cadillac Lyriq is the marque’s first fully-electric vehicle. It rides on the all-new BEV3 platform and harnesses a 100 kWh lithium-ion Ultium battery pack and a single rear-mounted Ultium Drive motor. The combination is good for 340 horsepower and 324 pound-feet of torque. Cadillac estimates over 300 miles of driving range from a full charge.
A high-performance variant of the Lyriq with all-wheel-drive is under consideration.
The Cadillac Lyriq will launch as a 2023 model year vehicle in the first quarter of the 2022 calendar year. Reservations for the luxury electric crossover will open in September 2021.
