2020 Cadillac CT4 And CT5 Recalled For Loss Of Brake Assist

The 2020 model year Cadillac CT4 and Cadillac CT5 luxury sedans are being recalled due to potential inactivation of the brake assist system.

The problem: material used in a sensor connection in the electronic brake boost system may have been contaminated during the material supplier’s production process. This contamination may cause an interruption communication between the sensor and the brake boost system under certain conditions.

The hazards: the lack of communication may in turn result in the vehicles’ electronic brake boost assist being lost. This issue does not affect the braking performance of the Cadillac CT4 or CT5. However, the purpose of brake boost assist is to provide more braking force than the driver has applied if the vehicle senses that this would reduce the chance of a collision. If the system fails – or, in this case, if it simply does not operate because of lack of communication with a sensor – the chance of a collision therefore increases.

The fix: Cadillac dealers will replace the electronic brake boost module.

Affected vehicles:

  • 2020 Cadillac CT4
  • 2020 Cadillac CT5

Affected component: electronic brake boost module.

Next steps: customers should expect to receive a recall notification, and can contact their dealer or Cadillac customer service with questions. Vehicles involved in the recall in dealer inventory were placed on stop sale.

Contacts:

  • Bulletin number: A202307261
  • Cadillac U.S. vehicle help number: 1-800-333-4223 (8 am to 9 pm EST every day except Sundays)
