2020 Cadillac XT4 Recalled For Loss Of Brake Assist

The 2020 Cadillac XT4 is the subject of a safety recall due to potential inactivation of the brake assist system.

The problem: the XT4 was the first Cadillac ever to be fitted with the Electro-Hydraulic Braking Assist technology (EHBA), also known as e-Boost. The material used in a sensor connection in the electronic brake boost system may have been contaminated during the material supplier’s production process. This contamination may cause an interruption in communication between the sensor and the brake boost system under certain conditions. The lack of communication may in turn mean that the vehicle’s electronic brake boost assist could be lost.

The hazards: this issue does not affect the braking performance of the Cadillac XT4. However, the purpose of brake boost assist is to provide more braking than the driver has applied if the vehicle senses that this would reduce the chance of a collision. That chance increases if the system fails.

The fix: Cadillac dealers will replace the electronic brake boost module.

Affected vehicle: 2020 Cadillac XT4.

Number of affected vehicles: Cadillac parent company, General Motors, has not included the number of affected vehicles in its recall notice.

Affected component: electronic brake boost module.

Next steps: owners should expect a recall notice in the mail and can contact their Cadillac dealer or Cadillac customer service (phone number below) with any questions.

Vehicles involved in this recall that are in dealer’s stock were placed on stop delivery on September 24th, 2020. Once the electronic brake boost module has been replaced, the vehicle is released from stop delivery and can be delivered to the customer.

  1. We have the same problem and we no longer trust the vehicle, it is setting at the dealership. GM nor the dealer has done nothing to help but replaced a part but the mechanic would not guarantee that it would happen again I would not buy this vehicle

  2. I have a 2019 XT4. I experienced a brake boost failure. The dashboard lit up with warnings including limiting the speed at which I could drive. I brought it to the dealer. They had the car a week and could not find anything wrong. I contacted Cadillac and they told me to bring the car to the dealer. Big time run around. Sorry Cadillac but I am switching back to Acura. Buyer be aware.https://cadillacsociety.com/2021/02/22/2020-cadillac-xt4-recalled-for-loss-of-brake-assist/#

  3. Hello. I have bought a new cadillac xt4 here in Germany just last week. On the way home after around 20km different lights on the dashboard suddenly lit up. #brakes#tractions control#ABS. The car wouldn`t stop. Only after #hard pushing# of the brake pedal was the vehicle slowing down. It was for sure a scary situation. finally it was towed and brought back to the dealer. I am disappointed this happen. Now back to the dealer there was no failur discovered. thanks god I have the prove threw the street patrol which red out the failure from the board computer. Failure were the break assisting system and the #inlet control circuit# front left.
