The Super Bowl is traditionally one of the most important events of the year when it comes to advertising, and now, Cadillac is getting in on the action to show off its latest all-electric crossover, the Cadillac Lyriq.
According to a recent post from Automotive News, Caddy’s parent company, General Motors, has two Super Bowl ads planned this year, including a showcase for the new Cadillac Lyriq electric crossover.
“General Motors is creating a movement by making EVs fun, desirable and accessible for people from every walk of life,” writes GM’s global chief marketing officer, Deborah Wahl, in a LinkedIn post. “We’re excited to demonstrate the tremendous energy and enthusiasm behind our EV commitment by showing up big at this year’s Super Bowl with both GM and Cadillac.’
GM recently announced a new ad campaign titled “Everybody In,” which promotes the automaker’s latest all-electric vehicle models and technology development. GM is also expected to show off its latest autonomous driver tech during the big game, including the semi-autonomous Super Cruise assist system.
According to Automotive News, citing The Wall Street Journal, the new Cadillac ad is expected to feature comedian and actor Will Ferrell, and may involve the fictional character Edward Scissorhands. The ad will be a minute in length.
Super Bowl LV is scheduled to take place February 7th, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers squaring off against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Cadillac Lyriq was shown in near-production “show car” form last year, previewing the upcoming production model with a vehicle said to be 80 to 85 percent production-ready (some of the show car’s styling and features will not be included with the final product).
The Cadillac Lyriq will hit the market late in the 2022 calendar year, and will boast GM’s Ultium battery and EV drive technology, plus the Super Cruise driver assist system.
