Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing To Offer Carbon Fiber Racing Seats

The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is set to offer a pair of premium carbon fiber racing seats, as an option, the luxury marque has announced today.

We already knew the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing would receive a carbon fiber-adorned sport steering wheel thanks to a previous teaser released by the luxury automaker, but it has now also released some details on the new carbon fiber seats that it will offer in the sedan.

A sole teaser image of the new seats shows a naked carbon fiber material on the rear of the seats, along with a laser-etched monochromatic V-Series logo. These available sport seats will match the aforementioned sport steering wheel, which features carbon and aluminum trim, a red 12 o’clock marking, V-Series logo and red stitching.

“The 2022 CT5-V Blackwing will offer premium racing-inspired seats,” the automaker said in a press release. “The carbon fiber seatback will feature a precision book-matched design and laser-etched V-Series logo.”

Cadillac also said the seats “will also include other customer-centric innovations and features that will be announced at a later date.” While it’s not clear what features it may be referencing, the term “customer-centric” suggests that it may offer personalization options of some sort with the seats, such as engraving or custom stitching, for example.

As a reminder,  Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing will come with the automaker’s supercharged 6.2L V8 (production code LT4) previously used in the Cadillac CTS-V, where it produced 640 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission will be standard, while a 10-speed automatic transmission will be offered as an option. The model will also offer more aggressive exterior styling, wider wheels and tires, track-tuned suspension, larger brakes and other performance upgrades.

The CT5-V Blackwing will also be joined by the smaller Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing.  The CT4-V Blackwing will feature the twin-turbocharged 3.6L V6 (production code LF4) from the Cadillac ATS-V, where it produced 464 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque, and the same six-speed manual/10-speed automatic transmission options.

Both the CT5-V Blackwing and CT4-V Blackwing will go on sale in the summer of 2021 as 2022 model year vehicles.
