Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing, CT5-V Blackwing Will Not Be Sold In China

The Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing will not be sold in China, Cadillac Society can confirm.

According to our sources, who are familiar with Cadillac’s future product plans, neither the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing nor the CT5-V Blackwing will be sold in the Chinese market at any point in time. Additionally, the automaker has no plans to offer the regular V-Series models in the country either, which include the CT4-V and CT5-V.

This may be somewhat surprising to Cadillac fans, as China is now the luxury brand’s largest market by sales volume. Cadillac sold a significant 213,717 vehicles in China last year, outnumbering the 156,246 new vehicle sales it recorded in the U.S. during the same time period.

It’s worth noting that even though China is the largest market by sales volume, the luxury brand’s profits and revenues are still higher in the United States. This is likely due to the fact that Cadillac sells its most profit-heavy models in the U.S., which include the aforementioned V-Series models and, most notably, the Cadillac Escalade SUV.

Both the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing will offer quite a bit more performance than the regular V-Series models on which they are based. The CT4-V Blackwing will be powered by GM’s twin-turbocharged 3.6L V6 LF4 that powered the Cadillac ATS-V, where it produced 464 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. The CT5-V, meanwhile, will be even more extreme thanks to its supercharged 6.2L LT4 V8 engine, which was good for 640 horsepower and 630 pound-feet in the Cadillac CTS-V.

As we’ve reported previously, both the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and CT5- Blackwing will offer a six-speed manual transmission as standard, while GM’s 10-speed automatic transmission will be offered as an option.

As for the U.S. launch of the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, both sedans were originally slated to go on sale in the U.S. late this year, but the COVID-19 pandemic has pushed the vehicle’s arrival back to 2021. It’s not clear when the vehicles may debut at this time.
