The Cadillac Lyriq is an upcoming battery-electric crossover utility vehicle. that will be Cadillac’s first EV. The brand initially planned to reveal the concept version of the Lyriq in April, but those plans have since been scrapped as a result of COVID-19. It’s currently unclear when the vehicle will debut, though a likely candidate could be the New York International Auto Show. The show was originally set to take place in April, but has been rescheduled to August as a result of the virus.
Cadillac Society has covered the Lyriq concept extensively, including reporting exclusive details about its exterior, cabin, and various interior features. In addition, CS was also the first in the world to report on Cadillac’s plans to use the Lyriq name on the battery electric CUV.
The Lyriq is to be the first of many Cadillac electric vehicles planned to be released in the near- and medium-term future. The production version of the vehicle was to commence assembly in 2021 a 2022 model year vehicle. Whether that timeframe will hold as a result of the coronavirus outbreak and associated disruptions to work timetables is currently unclear. According to our sources, Cadillac’s EV strategy also involves introducing another EV crossover smaller than the Lyriq, as well as an electric version of the Escalade.
