The Cadillac Society Take
The decline in Cadillac Mexico sales in March 2020 represented the fifth consecutive month of double-digit sales volume contractions. The decline was caused by limited vehicle availability and a decline in demand as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which caused the country’s authorities to implement restrictions that impacted vehicle sales.
Almost all Cadillac models offered in Mexico saw sales volumes drop on a year-over-year basis, including the Cadillac XT4 – which recently became the brand’s best-selling nameplate in the market. Meanwhile, the XT5 was the only model to register an increase in sales volume, though the increase was only two units compared to March 2019.
Going forward, we expect Cadillac Mexico sales to continue to decline as long as the coronavirus pandemic continues to negatively impact Cadillac production and availability, the economy, and consumers’ ability to purchase vehicles.
