Earlier this month, we walked the show floor at the 2019 Miami International Auto Show, where we saw a number of hot new Caddy models, including this – the Cadillac CT4. Draped in a smokey shade dubbed Shadow Metallic, we managed to capture the luxury brand’s latest C-segment four-door with the following Live Photo Gallery.
This particular Cadillac CT4 is presented in the Premium Luxury trim level, which slots above the base-level Luxury and runs parallel to the performance-flavored Sport trim level. In terms of aesthetics, the Premium Luxury and Luxury trim levels are differentiated from the Sport thanks to brighter exterior trim bits, a unique fascia, and bright grille insert, whereas the Sport offers darker accents, new wheels and a few other details.
Under the hood, the Cadillac CT4 is equipped with a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder (production code LSY) as standard, which produces upwards of 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The Premium Luxury trim level is also offered with a turbocharged 2.7L four-cylinder (production code L3B), which produces 325 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. The 2.0L engine option pairs to an eight-speed automatic, whereas the 2.7L uses a ten-speed gearbox. Rear-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is optional.
One could consider the Cadillac CT4 to be a refreshed ATS Sedan, given the CT4 carries over the same general body structure as the ATS. This includes all the same cutlines, plus the same mirrors and door handles. Both vehicles also run the same general vehicle architect – the standard wheelbase Alpha platform.
That said, there are quite a few differences between the Cadillac CT4 and ATS worth noting. For starters, the CT4’s underlying structure is in fact the Alpha 2 platform, a more evolved iteration of the ATS’ Alpha architecture. The CT4 also runs the all-new Global B electrical architecture, while introducing a new powertrain set and all-new cabin design to boot. With that in mind, if the CT4 is considered a “refresh,” then it’s quite substantial.
