The Cadillac XT6 is the luxury marque’s largest crossover utility vehicle (CUV) offering.
The 2022 Cadillac XT6 base Luxury trim level starts at $49,865 with standard front-wheel-drive equipped, and $51,865 for the all-wheel-drive variation.
The Cadillac was first launched in the spring of 2019, launching its first generation.
The XT6 name is the result of Cadillac’s new naming convention, wherein the brand labels cars like sedans, coupes, and wagons with the CT moniker, followed by a number designating its “sequence” in the lineup. Similarly, Cadillac crossovers and SUVS are named XT followed by a number identifying its sequence in the vehicle hierarchy.
The XT6 nameplate indicates that the vehicle in question is a crossover that slots above the XT5 in the lineup.
The Cadillac XT6 rides on the extended-length version of the C1 platform (pronounced “Chi”). The short-wheelbase version of the same architecture is shared with the Cadillac XT5.
Due to its platform, the XT6 features a transverse powertrain configuration.
The Cadillac XT6 features the 3.6L V6 (production code LGX) with automatic engine stop/start functionality, making 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. The engine bolts to Cadillac’s nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel-drive is standard, while all-wheel-drive is optional for a premium.
The Cadillac XT6 is available as a midsize-plus crossover utility vehicle (CUV).
However, the XT6 isn’t a ‘true’ midsize CUV, but it is not considered a full-size model either. Instead, it is considered a ‘tweener’ – meaning it straddles the line between the two segments.
