Next-Gen Cadillac XT5 Being Considered For U.S. Market

If you’ve been keeping up with the latest Cadillac Society reporting, then you already know that the luxury marque is reconsidering its plans to discontinue the Cadillac XT5. We now have some more news to share on this front.

Cadillac is now in the midst of considering the viability of bringing the second-generation Cadillac XT5 to the U.S. market.

The next-gen Cadillac XT5 was introduced for the Chinese market last year. It’s essentially a re-bodied version of the outgoing model on the outside with an updated cabin. The overall architecture, named C1, is the same, meaning the chassis bits are nearly identical, with minor improvements.

The China-market XT5 features a mild hybrid powertrain, which pairs the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a 48-volt electric motor.

It’s very possible for this next-gen Cadillac XT5 model to find its way to U.S. market, as production of its C1 platform mate, the Chevrolet Blazer, is set to be relocated from Mexico to the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee. That same plant currently produces the XT5, XT6 as well as the Lyriq and Vistiq.

  1. It’s only good common sense. I’m on my second Gen 1 XT5 and love the design more than its next-gen counterpart. But I want to see it made here and still in Tennessee. But before you sell it here Caddy; bring the V6 back home. Keep the 4 cylinder turbo handy in case some want it but the mainstay 6 is the ay to fly the XT5 in either gen configuration.

  3. It’s about time Cadillac faced sales reality. Few folks want an EV and the gas XT-5 was popular, so bring us the new one!

  4. Hey Cadillac,
How about a smooth riding, quiet luxurious sedan like you used to make ?Maybe something like the 5 series or A6 ?. Maybe less emphasis on very unreliable EV suvs ?

    • I agree with you 100%. I was going to look at Lexus but I’ll wait for this Cadillac. Had an SRX and now XT5. Waiting for an updated version.

  6. I would certainly like to see this happen. My wife has a 2022 XT5 she loves, and her lease is up next summer. Our plan was to buy it, because there is nothing in the Cadillac offerings except EV’s which we DO NOT WANT, EVER! If this happens, we can stay with Cadillac at least for one of our vehicles. If not, similar to what others have been saying we will look at Audi, BMW, or Lexus.

  7. Why does Cadillac always kill what sells.
In 2019, During the last quarter, the XTS outsold ALL of Cadillac’s current sedan lineup COMBINED in the US!
    XTS: 5359

    CT6: 1862
    CTS: 2433
    ATS: 371

Cadillac show have run the XTS until the Cadillac Customer tired of it, Like the Ford Model T.

Nobody wants EVs. Mary Bara will never learn, Build what the customers want, not what You want.

  8. EV’s are putting Caddy in the best position ahead of others that have delayed EVs, and like it or not EVs are the future, especially with regard to EV suv’s, and any type of suv’s have been the CONSUMER choice for many years now, and a significant portion are EV’s now. GM is doin what it needs to do. I just wish we had more choices for gas or electric, so bringing back the XT5 and adding Super Cruise will be a great choice. I own or have owned 2 Caddys with manual trannys, so I DO like my ICE’s, but Im tired of all the ICE related maintenance and the over complicated engines and their sensors that go bad. I’ll be glad when my daily driver is an EV and I can charge at home and say goodbye to oil changes, coolant leaks, coil pack replacements, MAF sensors, etc…. Biggest compliant, that other have too, is the uncomfortable seats. Makes me not want to buy a new car
