The Cadillac CT4 is one of the luxury marque’s worst-selling models, overshadowed in sales volume even by its larger and more expensive stablemate, the Cadillac CT5. Though both luxury sedans were introduced for the 2020 model year, the CT4 seriously lags the CT5 in popularity within the Cadillac lineup and in its segment – and we have some ideas why.
In our opinion, the Cadillac CT4’s exterior styling is very good, delivering an appearance just as great as the more successful CT5. Accordingly, we need to look elsewhere for the source of its rock-bottom sales success.
It’s our view that the reason for the CT4’s feeble sales lurks in its cockpit. The 2025 Cadillac CT5 received a mid-cycle refresh that was headlined by the introduction of a new front end and a new, curved 33-inch display lifted straight from the Cadillac Lyriq, as well as other Cadillac models. The Cadillac CT4, meanwhile, languishes in the past when it comes to its infotainment screens.
Buyers of the CT4 find themselves confronted not by an expansive center stack display, but an eight-inch center infotainment display (production code IOS/IOT). The display is paired with either the standard Driver Information Center display (UDD), consisting of two analog gauges and a small DIC screen between them, or a 12-inch diagonal reconfigurable driver display (UDV). The latter is optional on all CT4 trims and is standard on the range-topping CT4-V Blackwing.
While the 12-inch digital gauge cluster is acceptable, the eight-inch center screen is downright tiny. It was passable when the CT4 launched five years ago, but it’s downright uncompetitive today. By comparison, the 33-inch screen, which spans both the gauge cluster and the center stack display, would represent a major upgrade to both. The CT5 received a similar upgrade to its displays with the arrival of the 33-incher unit.

The Cadillac CT4 clearly needs some help in the marketplace, given that its sales fell almost 20 percent to only 1,430 units during the second quarter of 2025. Our thinking is that the screen is the single most significant update that’s needed to turn around the small sedan’s fortunes and make it competitive once again, especially for today’s tech-focused luxury car buyers.
