Cadillac Lyriq Crossover EV Recalled Due To Driver Screen Defect

A recall has been issued over a driver screen defect impacting roughly 41,000 units of the Cadillac Lyriq. The long and the short of it is that the screen may go blank while driving, making the digital gauge cluster inaccessible to the driver. Of course, the lack of a speedometer, warning lights, or rearview camera image poses a rather significant safety risk.

The recall – labeled N25250068 by GM and 25V356 by NHTSA – primarily affects 2024 model year Lyriqs, with only about 3,300 units from the 2023 model year involved. According to NHTSA, an estimated three percent of the recalled vehicles may actually exhibit the issue, which is only a little more than 1,200 units. It’s worth noting that vehicles with the latest video display module software are not included in this recall, which is likely why 2025 and 2026 model year Lyriqs are not named. As a reminder, North American bound units of the Lyriq are built at the Spring Hill Plant in Tennessee.

Not knowing how fast you’re moving while driving can certainly be unnerving. Fortunately, the fix is a free and simple software update. The update can be installed remotely (Over-The-Air) on vehicles that are capable of receiving the update in this fashion, which means these owners can resolve the issue without a trip to the dealership, if they so wish. Cadillac does not provide an estimated wait time for the procedure. As a point of reference, the most recent Super Cruise update takes about 24 minutes to install on the Lyriq.
