Cadillac Celestiq Looks Better With Sollei Concept’s Rear End Styling

The Cadillac Celestiq is the luxury marque’s long-awaited true flagship vehicle, but some enthusiasts have pointed out that its rear end feels a little off. The ultra-luxury electric model features a back end that tapers off into a slope that appears to be stuck in limbo between fastback and hatchback, answering a question that seemingly no one really asked.

To that end, the luxury marque recently revealed the Cadillac Sollei, a convertible concept that is heavily based on the Celestiq but with some important distinctions, including a unique rear fascia treatment. This prompted Cadillac Society to wonder whether the Celestiq look more put-together if it were given the back end of the Sollei, so we rendered our own version to find out.

The back end of the Sollei employs a more rounded, softer design than that of the Celestiq. It features a set of lower taillights that extend from just behind the rear wheels before angling sharply upward, leading the eye toward the center of the decklid and highlighting its horizontal lightbar, which acts as the rear running light(s). It’s a lot less busy than the rear end of the Celestiq, which is also fitted with a two-tier taillight treatment, including boomerang-shaped assemblies that extend well into its D-pillar and interrupt an otherwise sleek design.

Since the Sollei is, at its core, a Celestiq with a convertible top and one fewer set of doors, its rear end seems to transfer seamlessly to the ultra-luxury four-door sedan, and we think that it flows better with the Celestiq’s overall design, complementing its sleek exterior without the jarring presence of the upper taillights.

We’re not aware of any plans to pluck the rear fascia design from the Cadillac Sollei and slap it on the Cadillac Celestiq, even if it does look more at home on the production ultra-luxury sedan. Whatever the case, it’s fun to imagine the possibilities.

Let us know if you agree that the Cadillac Celestiq looks better with the Sollei rear end by voting in the poll and be sure to share your take in the comments.
